The Confusion item activation curiosity is a curiosity in the core Generation V, VI and VII games, and a possible glitch.
Summary
Held items including the Sitrus Berry, Figy Berry, Liechi Berry and Berry Juice do not activate if the Pokémon hit itself in its confusion to fall under the HP threshold. However, they will activate if the Pokémon is to take damage from another means (other than hitting itself in confusion) later.
