Map script pointer manipulation

'''This article is a summary page for different variations of a glitches, etc. when talked about as a whole.

Map script pointer manipulation is the precursor to map script arbitrary code execution and map script pointer item ball manipulation, and is made accessible by the expanded items pack.

This trick is performed by modifying the location of the map script pointer by altering item 41 and item 41's quantity.

This address controls a script ran on the map when the menu is closed. Modifying it indiscriminately may result in a freeze, but through knowledge of where routines and structures are stored in the ROM (via a ROM map or the Pokémon Red disassembly) or by setting it to a specific location in RAM, the player can run the script they desire.
