Trapping move and sleep glitch

Trapping move and sleep glitch is a natural glitch in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. It was documented by horouichigo on Twitch, and later analysed by ChickasaurusGL.

Summary

The glitch makes it so that it's effectively never your turn while you're asleep. The only way to fix it in the battle is to use an item to remove the sleep status. According to the status memory address (D017 in Yellow, D018 in Red and Blue), the sleep counter never decreases.

Steps: 1) Encounter a Pokémon with Wrap, Bind, Fire Spin or Clamp and Sleep Powder, Spore or Hypnosis (unconfirmed).

2) Have that Pokémon trap you.

3) Keep using healing items until the turn the trapping move effect ends. On the turn that it ends, if the opponent puts you to sleep you'll active the glitch.

According to jscottSHADOW, the glitch can also be activated after switching out of Wrap's trapping effect and immediately being put to sleep (it may or may not be required for the Pokémon to use Wrap again after sleep).
