Super Mario Bros. 3 is a platform action-adventure game for the Famicom and NES and is officially the third installment in the Super Mario series. It was released in Japan on October 23, 1988; in North America on February 9, 1990; and in Europe and Australia on August 29, 1991.

The game features Mario, a character in blue overalls and a red shirt, and his brother Luigi, who are tasked with saving Princess Peach from the turtle-like Bowser; king of the Koopa race.

Infinite Lives and Card Games at World 7

In World 7 (Pipe Maze), in the Castle level, it is possible to get infinite lives thanks to the coins. In addition, the player can activate the Card Game as often as desired if they go down in a pipe and return to the map. Keep in mind that to activate the Card Game, the player needs at least 80000 points.

    Transparent Kuribo's Shoe Glitch

In World 5-3 with a Tanooki Suit or a Super Leaf, if the player gets into a Kuribo's Shoe while holding a Spiny, the shoe will become transparent and Mario's clothes will become black. The shoe will revert back to normal after kicking the Spiny shell.

    Map Water Walk

In world 3, if the player uses a Magic Whistle while on a boat, Mario will be able to move on the water at the Warp Zone. However, once off of the Warp Zone, Mario will not be able to return to the world select, making it impossible to proceed. If the player goes far right, the screen will scroll, revealing a black background. This glitch only works in the Famicom version of the game.

    Somersault Vine Climb

In World 3-8 or 6-10, Mario must start the level with a star. If Mario manages to reveal a hidden beanstalk in a brick block and climb the beanstalk while the star is still active, the somersault animation (which is normally used while jumping with the star) will be used instead of the climbing animation.
