According to Bulbapedia and a thread on Acmlm, this text exists within the ROM code of Fr/Lg. Also, according to said sources, this text is actually used in-game (and only on emulators, as some sort of light-hearted anti-piracy "measure"). Anyone play through Fr/Lg with an emulator and see this?

Apparently it has something to do with the Aurora Ticket.

No, but wow.

This is totally new, haven't heard of such an instance before. Good find. I heard that, apparently, this is triggered by going on a Seagallop ferry by playing an unprofessionally-dumped copy of the ROM on one's computer. It'd be cool if someone could supply a video or something. I would if I wanted, but I'm pretty much too god damn lazy. :/

I could, but I haven't the time to play Pokemon nowadays.

Nintendo, Gamefreak, and Light-Hearted Death Threats don't seem to click with me. I'm smelling a fake here.

However, sure, I'll try and find this quote.

Not found here? checked at offset 0x719A2F as Kawa suggests, but couldn?t find the text there in 1636 - Pokemon - Fire Red Version (U) [MD5 e26ee0d44e809351c8ce2d73c7400cdd] or 1695 - Pokemon - Fire Red Version (E) [MD5 51901a6e40661b3914aa333c802e24e8] or through text searching. However, it?s unlikely Kawa was making this up?most likely he was just using a different version (I believe there were a couple releases of FR/LG).

There were a couple of releases. Versions 1.0 and 1.1. The versions can be identified by if they came with a Wireless adaptor or not. 1.0 came with a wireless adaptor and 1.1 didn't. Another way to tell the difference is to test GameShark SP codes on your Fr/Lg rom. You can go to my Gameshark SP code thread as I have codes for such a thing like this.

Gamefreak just can't accept that they are losing money, so they have to resort to death threats.
