Agatha - Page 1
So, in my Ancient Greek class, we have recently learned agathos, agathe, agathon, which means good. Yet Agatha uses 'evil' Pokémon. (Poison type, Ghost type and now Dark type.)
Was GameFreak going for irony or are they that oblivious?
Even Bulbapedia believes it to be ironic that Agatha's roots in Greek mean good.
However, it also states that they might have chosen Agatha because of the name's overall appearance, as it seems to look like aghast, or ghost.
And for some reason, I've always associated the name Agatha with an old person, even before I saw the character.
I feel like they were using it for irony but the name's appearance DOES make sense….
