List of unused Pokémon game trademarks

I felt like making a list like this out of interest. There are some interesting names. You can make searches for some trademarks here.

Pokémon names that are the same as existing games but written with different characters will not be listed.

(?): Delta Emerald
2002-63587  \ [Pokémon Topaz]
2002-63591  \ [Pokémon White Gold]
2002-63588  \ [Pokémon Tourmaline]
2002-63590 \ [Pokémon Moonstone]

2008-93270 [Pokemon Brown]
2008-93272 灰 [Pokemon Gray]
2008-93273 [Pokemon Scarlet]
2008-93274 紫 [Pokemon Purple]
2008-93275 [Pokemon Crimson]
2008-93276 [Pokemon Scarlet]

I haven't confirmed these, but apparently they were registered:

(?): Pokémon Aqua Blue
(?): Pokémon Amethyst

Any more?

I don't know why but Pokemon Brown is so funny to me… Pokemon Poop. Heh.

Pokemon White Gold is interesting though, I would say maybe it was a contender for Heart Gold but it was TM'd all the way back in 2002.

Also what the hell is Tourmaline? LOL @ Pokemon Moonstone. Scarlet would sound cool as a game, not gonna lie.

Pokemon Gray isn't that surprising, or Purple. Considering Gen IV's colors, Diamond - Blue, Pearl - Purple, Platinum - Grey.

"WaterBlue" was used in 2004 by Masuda when explaining Game Freak's choice of "FireRed" and "LeafGreen" as titles.

Brown is one of the most innovative Red hacks, too bad that trademarks are not invalid just because of preexisting use (not 100% sure on this though)!

Torchickens, the site gives me this error when I click the link you provided:

IPDLのはCooにて
[TM10035E]

My translation:

"Information on trademark applications and registrations - error details:

Please enable cookies to access the IPDL.
End code: [TM10035E]"

I tried adjusting the cookie settings in both IE11 and Chrome, checking Tracking Protection's settings (IE) / disabling the ad blocker (Chrome) but to no avail. Does the link work for you if you access it directly?

I think it requires a parameter in the URL. When I clicked the and tried the page in "4. 称索", it led me to this URL (http://www1.ipdl.inpit.go.jp/syouko/TM_AREA_B.cgi?xxxxxxxxxxxxx), where xxxxxxxxxxxxx is a randomly generated number. A similar thing occurs when clicking "3. 報" (http://www1.ipdl.inpit.go.jp/syutsugan/TM_AREA_A.cgi?0&xxxxxxxxxxxxx). And I can't seem to find the page you linked…

Oh. If you click 3: 報 (the Japanese version, not sure how the English version works, it doesn't seem to allow kana and might not list everything Japanese) from the service list it will link you to the place I intended.

This will lead you to the page, but with a certain code following .cgi?:

e.g. http://www1.ipdl.inpit.go.jp/syutsugan/TM_AREA_A.cgi?0&1423858134795

From here:

1) Enter the Japanese keywords in the first keyword box then click 索 (run search). Changing the option under 索選 can give you different results. I don't have translations of the options.
2) If you have any results (1件 or more), click the 覧表示 (list) button.

The other buttons are 積報 (stored document information?), 役名 (product and services names list?), 表 (Products and services international classification table?), 似役審 (Similar products and services screening criteria?). I have no clue how to use those.

Example:
[img]http://i3.minus.com/ibze7cdZZVCnu1.png[/img]
[img]http://i3.minus.com/i2zczyxAYBMna.png[/img]

I was going to do a screenshot of what that trademark was but I don't know of the legality of showing lots of technical information/images.

Note that this won't give you everything. Everything that is copyrighted won't appear.

Thanks, the problem is solved :)

I guess we'll eventually figure them out.

Cool. Glad you solved your problem.

Another good database like this is the Canadian Copyrights Database which lists games, authors and owners. I have used it a few times.

Japan only games are included too but with romanized names.

e.g. POKMON FUSHIGI NO DUNGEON: IKUZO! ARASHI NO BOUKENDAN (a/k/a POKMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: LET'S GO! ADVENTURERS OF STORM) (WiiWare) (a/k/a POKMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: LET'S GO! STORMY ADVENTURE SQUAD!)

Author: Amakawa, Daisuke / Ishihara, Tsunekazu / Kawamura, Kunumi / Nagahata, Seiichiro / Nakamura, Koichi / Nakashima, Misaki / Tomie, Shinichiro / Yamamoto, Masayasu

Owner: Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK Inc. / Nintendo of America Inc. / The Pokémon Company

Like above, you can get a translation under a/k/a. This one was different to the translation offered on Bulbapedia's Mystery Dungeon WiiWare article, "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Let's Go! Stormy Adventure Squad!".

Looks like and "Water Blue" belong to Meiji Seika, a Japanese pharmaceutical company.

It seems that the IPDL was closed down.
