Why can't my Aerodactyl beat Gary's Pidgeot? (Pokémon Red) Badge-bonus [solved]

Here's what I do:
6 times Doubleteam
6 times every x-item
So the reapplied Badge-bonus must be high, but I can't even one-shot Pidgeot's Substitute.
Can someone enlighten me?
The reason I do this: I want to beat Gary with a low-level Pokémon like the Elite 4 members just for fun^^
Edit: ah, I know what I have done wrong, I used the x-Attacks last, but by changing my attack stat the Badge-boost goes away!
