Should we have a Group request Topic?

I don't know about most of you, but requesting a group on the profile seems a little… stationary… as in nothing's going to be looked at.

I think a board where we could request for positions/whatever could get people to wherever they belong.

On that note, i'd like to request the oldbie position. I've been on since 08' as the username Minimoose (me as an adorable / annoying kid. Take your pick.). Granted I've never contributed much, except the casper project, I've been here for a while and haven't really left. I believe the oldbie members were for the original members on the site, however most have left. Maybe time for a change? -_- hell, i was promised an arcade at one point, never saw that shiz neither.

While I do think the user titles could use a little sprucing up, I don't want to lose my precious Member+ status, because it lets people know that I'm kind of a big deal around these parts.

There is an area around here for such nominations, but they're restricted to Member+, and moderator-related positions. Whether or not you should be Member+ is up for debate but I don't see why not.

Hilariously, Photon Phoenix just up and made me a Member+ one day wthout the voting process.

I'm not going to make policy decisions for GCL(F) so what I have to say here is not in any way the official position of the GCL administration.

The bar for Member+ is not very high. Once you get in there, you have the ability to nominate others for the position or even moderator or distinguished member. You could even request moderator status for yourself. There's a place in the profile to request group membership, which is a function of the SMF board software, so that's what we use.

Nowadays I think not much activity takes place in the nomination boards and Members+ are directly promoted by the admins.

As for the oldbie position, the original cutoff was that oldbies were people who have been around since approximately November 2004 (that is, near the end of the original Prof. Glitch's Laboratory site). Nowadays the only people here who meet that criteria who still post are Zowayix and I (10 year club represent!). We decided some time ago (mid-2008-ish) to move the bar for oldbies one year forward, shortly before the start of Glitch CIty Laboratories itself (so sometime in late 2005). Whether to move it forward again is a decision that's not up to me.

I've been meaning to talk to some people about that…
