First of all this is a memory hack. However, since no one goes to the Memory Hacking forum, I will post it here.

If anyone has seen the phrases "Please enter the password" or "Wrong password!" please inform me.

Sorry that I never happened to press Select+Down+B in my game. Also, most of the time in the video I was not pressing any buttons. Try it yourself if you don't believe me…

I realize that. What I meant was… now you have the rest of the required info to change the time. Either way, now it has been established that it is indeed not a beta phrase.
(god, typing with the on-screen keyboard is a pain.)

Sorry. I misunderstood you. Thanks for the info on it.

Using a similar hack I also came across the no windows available for popping text. You can see that in Pokemon Gold on Acid 2 (should be in related of above video). Maybe these two messages are related.

Actually the whole change the clock thing could be considered a piece of beta material due to its absence in Crystal. It is not uncommon for programmers to forget to take game testing materials out of their game. This is just one of those cases. The programmers Needed it for testing the times of day because it was new technology and had to be tested. (unfortunately this new technology also caused the save battery to die faster because it not only had to save data but had to constantly keep track of time while the game was on and remember the exact time that had passed since it was last on.)
