Bad Clones (Pokemon Gold/Silver)

I was attempting to do the Celebi trick on my Japanese Pokemon Silver. While trying to create a bad clone, I made a clone of Sneasel that had no name when going down the list of Pokemon in the box, but when you select him, you can see the gibberish letters that was his "name," a requirement of a bad clone. He was also level 0.

My question is, was this a bad clone? Sorry, I have no pictures.

I'm pretty sure any failed clone is a bad clone.
