yeah so this glitch is impossible to do following the given instructions, or rather the instructions are impossible to carry out. Step 3 has you putting 6 pokemon in your party, putting one in day care and taking it right back out (so still 6 in your party) in step 4 and then you're supposed to move a pokemon from PC to the first slot in your party, without removing any, in step 7. Which is impossible. Cuz you can only have 6. I tried doing the glitch by following the rest of the steps, and just depositing one of the good clones in a separate box in order to move a different pokemon into the first slot during step 7, and the glitch didn't work. The first sneasel didn't get renamed and on retrieving it from daycare a second time it was still just a sneasel. Am i missing something…can someone who's done this glitch successfully help me out please

This game will stop you if you have EXACTLY 6. If you have more, say, 255, 255 != 6 so you can withdraw a Pokemon. Gen 1 and 2 have never heard of error checking, remember…

The Glitch Pokémon you use in slot 1 during that part of the Bad Clone Trick actually tricks the game into thinking you don't have any Pokémon, hence allowing you to get 7 Pokémon. From that moment on, as said by Parzival, the game fails to stop the withdrawal of more Pokémon because of stupid programming.

This glitch is functional, but I really didn't get if you actually tried to do it (and there has been an issue at some point) or skipped the 7 Pokémon step without trying it, because you thought it was impossible. In any case, you should be able to perform it so if you don't, please give us some details so we can help more.

The game will prevent you from retrieving more Pokémons if you already have 6 of them in your party. However, Bad clones, when retrieved from the Day care, will become FF, which has the function to hide anything below itself (pretty much like Charizard'm and Q in Gen I games) so it'll let you, using the Move PKM W/O mail function, add the 7th Pokémon in your party to proceed with the exploit.

Remember that you can easily recognize a bad clone by it being lv 0, with overflowing question marks as nickname (however mine always appeared with a blank name, so I'm quite unsure what determines that) and they're always females. However, if you can, provide us with more infos as it seems like you skipped some steps.

Yeah, sorry you have to do it with move Pokémon w/o mail (with stabilised bad clone at the top; the stabilised bad clone should be 0x00 [unless you got it with a method like arbitrary code execution] but converts to 0xFF when you do the rest of the glitch), and it won't let you withdraw a Pokémon the normal method if you have six, but both these types of these stabilised bad clones hide Pokémon below (like Matt1990 said).

I'll edit the article for clarity accordingly.

Hope this helps with the glitch. :)
