New development on Crystal Cloning glitch! - Page 1
Edit: The following post is nothing but old postulation… and wrong at that. We now know that your ability to corrupt a clone depends entirely on whether that box had been occupied, and whether or not the same number of monsters occupy it now as the maximum it had been at any point (Box 1 doesn't work at all, either).
Here is the post for historical purposes…
It turns out that, if you do the Crystal Cloning Glitch with certain monsters, you get different results.
Ex. If you do it with Zapdos, Articuno, or Moltres, you can expect a normal and healthy clone. I've done this multiple times, much to my bafflement. I kept on wondering why all of the sudden my clones were turning out ok…
Yet, if you use Kingdra, the name becomes glitched (changes to about 100 question marks, plus some map tiles thrown in for good measure. You have to mash the buttons very quickly to get the display to show up when Withdrawing the Kingdra before the game decides to lock up.)
So… perhaps FF can be obtained by employing the Crystal Cloning Glitch on the correct monster. (Or, perhaps it has something to do with level, stats, name, etc. I can't say for certain.)
This also seems to explain why some users (Paco for example) have gotten glitchy monsters when performing the same trick on a Gold or Silver cart.
This could also lead to other possibilities as well… who knows what could happen when a certain monster becomes glitched like this (Celebi anyone?)
Edit: Your timing still has to be pretty sharp:
-If you reset too early, the Pokemon will stay in your party, and nothing changes in the box.
-If you reset too early, but later than in the above instance, you may get a healthy clone (even with Kingdra and the like).
-If you reset too late, then the Pokemon is simply deposited as normal, and will not appear in your party.
The timing is like trying to do a reversal throw in Street Fighter II. I'm thinking you have less than 10 frames at some point past the period in the "DO NOT TURN POWER OFF" sentence to pull it off. I'd figure out the exact number if the bloody frame advancement function in VBA worked for old GB and GBC carts.
wierd ,ill be trying to figure out in how much time to see if i can find out the time, also frames.
Indeed, I had just finished reading that post!
Looks like I was quite a ways off… and the cause of success or failure of the glitch depended on other factors.
alright i have narrowed it down to 2 seconds, you count 2 seconds at a normal pace, not fast, not slow, but just right in the middle.any comments?i know it's not much but i had to give you something ;)
Why did we want to get FF ????? anyway?
I have fogotten.
well, I think if you want glitches when trading, trade across language.
Anyway, wouldn't it just revert back to 'M?
Trade new pokemon of Jotho to RBY, it is great!!!
Recently I found a method to obtain exactly to pokemon No. 255 (FF Hex) without Gameshark or Cheat Device.
1. We needed to pokemon No. 000 (00 HEX) in the first position of the party and 5 any pokemon (the party full).
2. Using the option MOVE PKMN, we move to any pokemon to the party.
3. Now we have 7 pokemon in party, we deposited to pokemon No. 000 (00 HEX) in the Day care, now deposited any pokemon in the PC, removed from the Day care to pokemon No. 000 (00 HEX). Now it will be transformed into pokemon No. 255 (FF HEX).
