Sand Ornament glitch (Japanese R/S only)

Placing a Sand Ornament in front of a wall and crumbling it with the A button allows you to place a Poster on the wall behind it, which cannot be done while the Ornament is intact. Re-entering the room with the Poster behind the Ornament causes part of the Poster to disappear entirely when the Ornament crumbles. Put the crumbled Ornament away, and you are left with a hole in the wall.  :D

This seems to have been undocumented until now. I have a strong sense that more may come of this, but I'm away without my GBA so I can't test it until the end of the week.

Not working in the German debug version: http://youtu.be/QiMSsau51Qs

Maybe the USA 1.0 ("MAWHILE's jaws") version predates this one?

Maybe. The wall/fence/ledge glitch was apparently fixed in the Spanish version.

This Secret Base glitch could have been fixed in non-English European versions, but it could be a Japanese version exclusive glitch too. I'll consider testing this in American Ruby (MAWHILE's jaws version) soon. I don't know whether it's true that later US versions fixed MAWHILE's jaws, or if it was only fixed in EU English versions.

At least according to the 1st generation, 1.0J 1.1J (U=E)+D S+I

…which might translate to J 1.0U 1.1U (probably =E) E+D S+I a nightmare to timeline as, according to my (ahem) data source, Japan may or may not have 2 versions, all "PAL" versions have an update (for the berry glitch???) which is allegedly reused as is for 1.1U…

so, if we assume Japan had one version and 1.1U has the weird-tile-solidness-value bug, it would have probably went: J U1.0 (MAWHILE fixed) [E|D]1.0 (Aroma Lady fix) [S|I]1.0 Berry glitch (???) fix backported to all European versions with the English version being also distributed in North America. Who really knows?

This doesn't work in my European Sapphire.

I wonder what happens when a 1-tile Poster is used?  :)

In the description G-Mizuka said this is a 'famous trick' (名な). In fact, after a cursory Google search I found a page talking about this glitch, and other glitches/tricks.

I tested the glitch. It works in Japanese Ruby, but not North American Ruby or Japanese Emerald.

If you need a Japanese save file, Google ' sav' (which means Pocket Monsters Ruby SAV).

1-tile posters are usable too. After doing the glitch with one you can get a hole, as usual, and if you try to 'remove' the hole, you remove the poster (put it back in the PC) and the wall re-appears.

Haha, I didn't think to search the Japanese name…but I don't know any, so unless I find clear pictures/tutorials of what's going on, the significance of it is lost on me. :P

Hey, this reminds me - did you ever get started on that glitch decoration dex? (DecoDex?)

Ah yes, I was thinking about doing one for Emerald. Thanks for reminding me.

I haven't started it yet. Maybe I'll do it after updating all the wiki pages. I've been going through them alphabetically (except the dex entries), and have got to the redirect 'MissingNo glitch' (old man glitch) so far.

It would definitely be a useful project, with all of Emerald's glitch decorations seemingly available to us now. :3
