GBC Music and Sound

Being a musician, I've been intrigued into the music/sound used on R/B/Y and G/S/C recently, to the extent that I thought it might be cool if we found a way to write music and/or sound effects and play them using arbitrary code execution (or any other sort of method to play sound written by the player). I've got a few ideas in mind, one being that there could be a useful address where one of the glitched music tracks points to.

However, before I get started I'm gonna need a bit of help from you guys, if you don't mind :P

The first thing we're gonna need is some resources, whether written, a video or simply some knowledge. It would be helpful to know:

1. where and how the music is stored in the ROM, how it's read and how it's played. If you simply know the "where" part that's good enough :P
2. how to use BGB, so I can start to break down where the glitched music tracks point to. I'm sure if I looked I could find one on YouTube, so don't be too rigorous on this one. The reason I chose BGB is because of its accurate sound emulation. Seen as I regularly play on a Gameboy Color, I know how close it is to that.
3. any other sound related stuff, or things that might be relevant to the topic.

If I find anything myself I'll also link it in this topic.

Thanks in advance,

~G <3

P.S. I'm asking rather than looking first, just in case there's been a huge research topic I've missed, and because there are more experienced people out there who know what they're doing.

This is one example I can think of. Do you mean to do something like this?

Yup, exactly like that. I'll look through all the code mentioned there.

Thanks a bunch

I believe (but am not exactly sure) that there is a program that converts music made using FamiTracker into something that can be inserted into the ROM.  I don't have a link, though.

I'd actually be interested in .wav files of the GB samples (so, the note, the drum etc).

I've tried to find them for some time, but never did.
