I was wandering about on Route 214 in my Diamond version when I discovered an audio glitch which temporarily removes the background music for that route. Here are some simple steps:

1. Make sure that you have a bike and can access Sendoff Spring.
2. Go to Veilstone City.
3. Go south to Route 214.
4. Hop on your bike.
5. Go to Sendoff Spring (not just the Spring Path).
6. Return to an eerily quiet Route 214.

I would post a video, but since Youtube won't accept Linux video formats I can't upload one (even if I could it would be rather grainy.) Any ideas as to what causes this?

No, but I've also experienced this before on my Diamond.

It's kind of eerie how you have to go to Sendoff Spring, of all places.

Not really. The Spring Path just happens to have different music than Route 214 and connects to an area with the same (admittedly creepy) music. It appears to be a unique combination.

DOUBLE POSTING FOR GREAT JUSTICE (or rather, a video)

It turns out that it was merely a simple mistake impeding me from uploading my video. So, without further ado, here it is.

As I said above, I believe that the unique music changes on Route 214 to Sendoff Spring make this happen, but I could be wrong. What do you think?

I'm pretty sure you can add your own glitches to the wiki, you know.
