It's not. You're limited to a certain amount of RAM you can work with that you can overwrite before the game does. I think the maximum size for an injected block of code is 254 bytes.

The closest to an "OS" we'll likely ever see on the GBC is the Everdrive menu.

(Considering you didn't specifically say Pokémon ACE, something like reverse emulation could theoretically be done to run some custom port of Windows or maybe even 1.0, but…that's a different topic really. :P )

What about using ace to stream the footage from an actual pc into your GBA while using the button inputs from GBA which lead back to the pc to then use it as a mini monitor? It would require a lot of altering to your hardware tho

I actually looked this up again this morning because of this thread and considered setting up a new VM with it. This project will never stop being mind-blowingly incredible to me in its scale, scope of vision, and sheer originality. Anyone who hasn't heard of it should totally give that page a read; it's inspiring stuff. It's finally back in active development too..that's good news.

An OS has been made for the GBC, but it was a full ROM, thusly impossible to perform via ACE.
I may still have that demo somewhere, it was pretty impressive.
