The DS Lite is structually flawed. - Page 1

The DS Lite is structually flawed.

I am rather angry at Nintendo for designing a substandard device and I would like to inform others about it's inherent problems. My DS Lite has broken once where the righthand joint between the two halves connects to the main body and is currently forming fractures. My mom's DS has been broken twice in the same area. This is from normal use. So be warned! Get a warranty.

EVERY DS LITE breaks on the right hand side near the LED or on the LED if they break.

Same here, that's why I got a DSi!

Sometimes, it's a good thing to have an original Phat DS.
Although I do look forward to getting a DSi.

The DS is also more ergonomically designed. I find my hand falling asleep if I use my DS Lite for too long.

The A Button on my DS Lite got slightly stuck, it can still function, but it doesn't have that…"normal" feel anymore.

Actually, very early models of the original DS suffered a similar problem. (on the plus side these very early models could play GB and GBC games.) The problem was that if it was dropped wrong it would break in half. Nintendo is fond of using very sturdy an durable plastic which makes smashing their systems with blunt objects difficult. I've heard rumors of a Gamecube bouncing when dropped off of a building.
The only problem is that they forgot to notice a flaw in the henge that opens and closes the DS. As a result it is structurally weak there and will break the system in half if it hits something hard enough.

Glisp: To test the GameCube, Nintendo Power "unintentionally" dropped one out of a van.  It survived unscathed.

I've dropped my DS Lite on tile; it landed on a corner. The clear plastic merely fractured. However, the top was scratched by a mug when I lowered it down.  This durability is one of the better features.

Strange, the L button broke on the DS Lite belonging to a friend at school too. Maybe The DS Lite isn't as good as it's supposed to be.

A few days ago, my DSL dropped and the L button temporarily did not work.

What I did was that I pressed it VERY hard until it worked. I tested this with my boxes in Platinum, and after a while, it could work again.

That seems to be a structural flaw in the DS Lite and the LED screen model of the Gameboy Advance SP. I know two people that had problems with that on both of these systems. (The GBASP had both R and L buttons broken.)

I think that may solve some snapping/breaking problems. :P
