How things work:
* Your characters will be listed here after you choose them, next to your name (just put up a post with the fighter's name and either a bio or link to one, if needed), and the matches will be decided at random, though after a certain point, grudge matches may appear "unexpectedly".
*Normal fights are one-on-one, unless explicitly stated otherwise (like two-on-two or Battle Royale).
*The fight is a single round fight, and characters that are excessively strong/powerful (like, Goku from Dragon Ball Z versus some random dude) will be handicapped to provide a fair fight, because throwing super-ultra-death-moves at every opponent isn't fun.
*There are three fighter tiers - Tier One, Tier Two, and Tier Three. Tier One fighters are the cream of the crop, and are given the biggest handicaps against significantly weaker opponents. Tier Two fighters are fairly powerful, though not so much as to be game breaking, and are given only small handicaps versus Tier Three fighters and small advantages against Tier Ones. Tier Three is the bottom rung, and the fighters here are nothing special. They are given the biggest advantages for that reason.
*Fights between members of the same Tier are not handicapped, allowing more spectacular fights between stronger fighters.
*The number of fighters participating in the tournament is always a power of two, such as four, eight, sixteen, etc., up to a maximum of sixty-four.
*Tournament winners and runner-ups get a cool little block of text as well as a prize (possibly valid in another RP, or in a forum store or something, if given admin-approval):
Tournament Winner - xxxxx(character)/xxxxx(user), Runner-Up
Tournament Credits: 150,000
*The winner of the tournament becomes Champion, and in the next tournament, the Champion is fought after the final match. Whoever defeats the Champion becomes the new Champion.
*Tourney Credits are awarded for victories, special finishes, and Perfect victories, as well as Lucky Shots (having almost no health at all when you win), Precise victories (using just enough force to win), and Comebacks (when you defeat the opponent after being badly pummeled). Runner-Up or Champion status also brings Credits (150,000 and 1,000,000 Credits for each title, respectively).
There are several kinds of fights besides normal ones:
*Team: A group of fighters fights another group of equal size (two-on-two, three-on-three, forty-on-forty, etc.,). The match ends when all of the members of one team have been defeated.
*Battle Royale: In the event that a contestant(s) drops out, a Battle Royale is held to cut the number of contestants to a more acceptable number. The match ends when there is only one fighter left standing.
*Survival: A free-for-all match with a large number of fighters trying to defeat as many other fighters as possible. In this match, there are anywhere from four to sixty-four winners, who are named as such based on the number of fighters each has defeated (Survival battles are usually used in preliminary matches to cut the number of entrants down to a tournament-legal number).
*Defense: A two-on-two match where one fighter keeps the other from being hit. The match ends when the defended fighter on one team has been defeated.
*Race To The Top: A large match where each fighter has a flag. The objective is to get the flag to the top of the arena (usually a pyramid or mountain-ish structure). If you get thrown off of the field and hit the ground, you are disqualified. Another fighter can save you if they grab your flag and put it down while you fall - you will appear where the flag was placed. In the same manner, if a fighter takes your flag and throws it off of the field, you may be disqualified if you do not retrieve it in time.
Finally, there are different kinds of arenas, which provide unique twists in the tournament:
*Crushing Maps: The level itself will try to defeat you, using spikes, boulders, and other hazards to disqualify you. Other fighters can push you into these hazards, so be careful.
*Overheat Maps: Like the above, but the hazards are fire and lava-based. The same rules as the above arena apply.
*Pyramid and Mountainous Maps: Used for Race To the Top, the incline sharpens as you reach the top. Flying is not allowed in this map, and is grounds for immediate disqualification.
*Segmented Maps: Levels that are broken into floating pieces and platforms. Flying is not allowed in this map, as the pieces float over a void. Falling into said void means defeat.
*Ye Olde Budokai-style Maps: Levels that have a smaller fighting space - moving outside the fighting space is a ringout, and means defeat.
That's great and all, but how do you do the actual fighting (thanks Angrysmurf)?
*When a match is announced (x VS y), the users post their first action(s), and post a reply to their opponent's action to either counter or attempt to do so.
*Each character will be given 2000 Health Points, and certain attacks take away a certain amount of HP - weak normal attacks (normal attack = punch or kick or similar) take 30, medium normals take 60, and strong normals take 100.
*Special moves (specialty moves, such as fireballs, weaker signature moves, etc.) do varied damage depending on the move, but the damage typically falls between 130 and 300 (grab specials, such as Zangief's Spinning Pile Driver, do more damage because they have extremely limited range).
*Super Special moves (usually souped up versions of Special moves) also do varied damage based on how much of the attack actually hits, but they usually do between 400 and 1200, depending on the move. These moves are very powerful, and require energy.
*Desperation Moves are even more powerful than Super Special moves, and can only be performed if you have 1000 Energy Points and have less than 500 Health Points. Like Supers, the damage varies, but they usually do between 900 and 1600.
*Energy is gained by taking damage, giving damage, or charging. Fighters have a maximum of 1000 Energy Points, and attacks give you energy equal to the damage you receive (if the opponent is attacking), and half of that when you deal damage (i.e, you gain 15 energy if you do 30 damage to your opponent, and you gain 30 energy if the opponent does 30 damage to you).
*Ki blasts/fireballs can be deflected, though this isn't always possible. A deflection yields 150 energy.

Well, that's all I have now, though I might amend this in the future. Well, guys, choose a character and KICK SOME ASS.
