The Pomeg glitch. (I bet someone has already posted this...)

Please don't be angry if this has been talked about here, because I just heard it.  I'm not even sure if it's true, but it's worth testing.  This is all the information I could get, because it was in a chatroom.  I really doubt this as creditable, but here goes:

Basically if you have enough HP EV's, and give your Pokemon a HP decreasing berry (the pomeg) while it has one HP left, then it's HP will go below zero and become an insanely high number.

This is all the info I could gather and if you guys haven't heard it (because I certiantly haven't) you might want to test it.  It's supposedly for Emerald version BTW.  It's probobly fake or been tested, but you can never be sure.  Again, don't get mad at me, please!

why. Pomeg berries are in Ruby and Sapphire. I made some Pokeblocks with them.

Because Pomeg Berries only decrease HP EVs in Emerald. The effect didn't exist in R/S.

Soooo…Is this true?  I can't test it…

It sounds legitimate, and I might be able to test it. I have an Ursaring that's EV-trained for HP on my Emerald Version, so I suppose I could try this. (If I could ever get enough Pomeg Berries…)

Also, if this is true, the "insanely high number" that the HP becomes is probably 65535, which is the highest number that a two-byte integer can hold. This makes sense, because a Pok?mon's HP would have to be stored in a two-byte integer to hold values over 255, and it would reset to 65535 after going below 0, much like how over-level-100 Pok?mon in R/B/Y revert to 0 when their level goes over 255.

Edit: Nope, this glitch doesn't work. At least, it didn't work when I tried it. I got my Ursaring down to 1 HP (harder that it sounds) and then used Pomeg Berries on it. After the first berry, its HP dropped to 0 and it fainted. Subsequent berries had no effect on the HP count–it stayed at 0. I suppose this gltich might work if the Pok?mon is at just the right HP EV amount that its HP drops by 2 instead of 1 when the berry is used, but that would be extremely hard to do. More likely, there is just a safeguard in place that keeps the HP from going below 0 no matter what. For now, this submission is DENIED, unless someone can prove otherwise.

This leaves a question. What would happen if you only have that Pok?mon in your party when you do this trick?

perhaps this should be re-tested. I'm bringing it back to the normal submissions.

Well, after reading that post on Smogon, I decided to try this again. I used Pomeg Berries on various Pok?mon to see which ones would lose 2 HP instead of 1. None of my Pok?mon with HP EVs did that (I think my EV-trained Vulpix actually gained 2 HP @_@), but I discovered that the second Pomeg Berry used on my Ursaring would decrease HP by 2. So, I used 1 Pomeg Berry on Ursaring, fought random Pok?mon until Ursaring's HP was down to 1, and then used another Pomeg Berry, and IT WORKED. O_O I guess my first impression about this glitch was wrong. It didn't cause any odd behavior beyond occasional lagging and Ursaring having "infinite" HP, but then again, I didn't try the Full Restore trick that the Smogon post said would cause the weird glitches. I tried healing in a Pok?mon Center, but it only reset Ursaring's HP to its normal max–no glitches. :( I'll have to try this again sometime to see what all weird stuff I can cause to happen.

APPROVED.

Could this glitch work with other berries and stats?

Probably not, unless you can think of a way to get other stats down to 1.
