Maybe a way to get items without cheating

When you use secret gift, you can battle the friend's pokemon in the trainer house in Veridian City. I just wonder if the pokemon hold items if the pokemon of your friends carry items during the secret gift action. You could get 6 items using thief during the battle and don't need to clone pokemon. I have never tested, so does anybody know? Unfortunetly I do not have the possibility to test it now and the idea came very very late (in fact 7 years ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)!

Anyway I'm glad to see more submissions get added lately. Good job Glitch Scientists! (I'm probably the only Global Moderator without Glitch Scientist status actually)
