I found a prototype called sonic crackers with sonic and tails joined by 2 rings and a band. it is quite hard, but extremely fun. Those who want to play go to romnation.

It's a beta version of Knuckles' Chaotix for the Sega 32x.

Because it was originally planned for the Genesis. The 32X is actually just a 32 bit attachment for the Genesis. There actually is evidence that it is indeed a prototype of Knuckles Chaotix. For on thing in one of the Knuckles Chaotix prototypes, it actually references Sonic Crackers in the form of some unused text within the. It says, "Sonic Crackers 32X".

Also, there are actually life Icons for Sonic and Tails inside this same prototype.

There is also a glitched up character within the game that is in the same hex slot as Tails normally would be in a 2D sonic game of that time.
In earlier Choatix prototypes, this glitched character can fly and tiers out, just like Tails.

Also, if you compare the Sonic's Sonic Crackers Sprites (even the unused ones.) to Mighty the Armadillo's sprites in Chaotix, you'll notice that the poses are almost all identical. This means that Mighty's sprites are no more than edited Sonic Sprites so therefore Sonic did (Sort of) make the final cut for the game.

Also, some of the music from Chaotix is nearly the same as Sonic Crackers' music. (Minus the fact the 32X's PSG sounds make them a bit better.) example:
