It seems that people have been taking notice of my newly accquired Local mod position.
So, for those of you that haven't, I'm a mod!

How did you come to be a mod?

he was seen for his good qualities on the forums, and the admins decided to mod him.

Yeah, he has good grammar, knows the rules well, etc.

There are several others being considered for mod positions. We'll probably appoint 2 more mods by the end of the months.

Is it possible that I could become a Mod?

You're not supposed to ask for staff positions. He was nominated by an elite cadre of members (namely, everyone who already has some sort of status) and he got a good show of support. Bluelatios was too, but he opted for Glitch Scientist instead of mod.

There are other candidates we're considering, but I'm not divulging any names. We might not even need any additional mods now.

You have quite good grammar, are pretty active, and you did quite well explaining the rules to DOC777. (Yes, we don't discriminate based on age.)

I can give you local moderator powers for a board, but I'd like to know if you actually want to be a local moderator, and which board you'd like to moderate.

That is what the PM said.

You're not supposed to ask for staff positions.

And yet, I don't recall a rule against that.

I wasn't asking to become a mod. I was asking if it was possible for that to happen to me, say, if there ever is an oppurtunity.

We are not asking for staff for the forums, website, or IRC channel. Do not ask for a staff position.

Asking for any position of power is, in general, a bad idea on the internets. Even if it's not explicitly stated in any rules at a site, the act is generally frowned upon. Half of the replies will be "Don't ask for staff positions," the other half will be "If you work hard/be helpful, maybe. Don't ask for staff positions."
