Okay. The Aether, in Greek Mythology, is the area outside the Universe, thought to be Heaven in Modern Mythology.


That is exactly what I was talking about.

The Greeks thought that God hated the idea of a vacuum, so they invented the idea of the Aether to account for movement of the universe.


Philosophers asked questions like: "If the universe moved in a straight line, would it leave a vacuum in its wake?

And other philosophers were like: "Ummm… no. Because it ummm… moves through a substance that… ummm… fills in the space behind it… its called… aether."



In other words, more stupid ideas to try and prevent religious thought from collapsing on itself.
