Stupid Windows Media Player Codecs

I'm trying to find the codec Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec for my WM11, for Windows Vista. I have a song that I downloaded from this Russian Silent Hill website and they have all the game soundtracks that was released, but one of them Track 19 Half Day is missing the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec and WM11 keeps saying:

An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web help.

Which I did all that, and I went to the Microsoft Website, to find Microsoft MPEG-1 (50), and they don't have it. I've look all over on Google to find it and half of the crap is about other forums about others with the problem with Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec, and none for a download of this codec. I can't use a torrent because I don't have a torrent downloader, and the last one fucked up my XP, so where can I find codex Microsoft MPEG-1 (50)?

Search x-vid for a video codec, and search: Audio Codec for Windows Media Player for good results.

Why can't Google keep results SIMPLE?

Why can't Google keep results SIMPLE?

Because Google is lost in money.

What file format is this song in that it needs a codec to be installed? If it's some random obscure crap, I'd try using VLC or something instead.

Like all the others, .MP3. The funny thing is, I have the whole soundtrack on my PC and all tracks work fine.

Then why do you need the codec?

>_<

bBecause I sent Track 19 Hear Nothing from my PC to my laptop and I still got the same. My friend says to reinstail WMP11, as it has been fucking up lately, even with movie films that are MPEG won't work, on it. I always keep copies of songs/movies on my PC and my laptop in case something goes wrong with one of them.

Reinstall it. It sounds like a virus or someone caused that.

Guys, codecs are little programs that encrypt/decrypt movie/music files in their own way.  They're usually made by program developers to make their program's music un-rippable or they can be made by an audio/video recorder to help compress to a file type faster and more accurately.  You need this special codec to play this special codec encrypted file, etc.

Chances are, Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) Codec is old, unconvential codec that was abandoned.  Also, the codec is for .MP1 files hence the MPEG-1 part of the file name.

And of course, I'm basing that last part on absolutely nothing. :P

There's no viruses, and the other songs seem fine. *Sigh* Windows Vista sucks.

You've sure as hell got that right.  But I'd suggest getting a different media player.

iTunes works pretty well.
