Triumphant Return

So here we are once again.

I'm not in a good mood about this, moving the database took pretty much forever (I stayed up til six a.m. to do it, so anyone who complains about this or that gets burninated until December)

Whoa! You stayed up until 6 AM to do this? Well, sheesh, thanks!

Umm…woo return?

(Well, I WANTED to complain (Sorry, but I don't like having to enable Adblock Plus on GCL) in this post, but seeing as I'll be 'burninated until December' I guess I can't.)

I don't see why a banner ad is that much of a nuisance. It's not a goddamn popup, and I suppose if you want we can go back to constant downtimes. Or maybe i can just pull this forum off the internet.

…the hell you getting like that for?
It's just my freaking opinion on banner ads. I fucking hate them.
Not to mention seeing them on GCL is a fucking change, do you think I'm used to ads on GCL? No.
And even with Adblock Plus it's still pretty fucking annoying to see an empty template as a second sort of reply thing.
Oh and not to mention that seeing a bunch of shit being pushed over to the side is kind of annoying.

This isn't the GCL I'm used to. I'm bound to complain because ads suck, and complaining is in human nature as it is.

Oh right, I complain once and we immediately go there, to the "Let's pull this forum off the internet if you want!" shit.

The ad doesn't push anything to the side. Well, at least in Firefox 3.0.1 and Opera 9.5 it doesn't.

This isn't the GCL I'm used to.

the GCL you're used to couldn't hold up for 24 hours. Honestly, I don't like ads either, but it's either that or I stick with my home server - and everyone knows how stable that is (hint: go look at one of the #fmsanctity logs and check how many times the nicks "Fragezeichen" and "FMK" peer out)… Surely you must have noticed the speed difference at the very least (I do, and my own server's fast for me because it's localhost)

I'm actually hoping this is temporary until I can afford a good paid host. But in the interim it's a step in the right direction.

Well, it would save you the trouble of enabling adblock plus

wat
Stuff like the userbar's been pushed over a slight bit for some odd reason, and I dunno if it's just me but it looks like the style changers been moved a tad too.

I've always preferred a lot of things over ads, but I guess I'd make an exception seeing as the normal server goes into a coma every 5 or so hours.

I honestly don't mind the ads. I didn't even notice them at first.

On Internet Explorer (GASP I'm so bizarre, aren't I?) Nothing looks too different.

The style changer hasn't been moved at all. I checked with a pixel ruler.

Heh, unwanted pestilence.

I notice that we get notification e-mails now. I can't remember that having happened, well, ever.

Adds, a necessary evil. But at the start of the fucking page? The setup on the Fourms is ok but the site looks like shit now. If we need adds, then put them on the bottom of the page. Putting the adds on the top makes the site look like some half assed thing. So please move them to the bottom or let someone else do it. But on the topic of getting the site up, thanks.

Also, a question, couldn't we just delete the add post after the first post?
Never Mind.

But just F.Y.I, the sub divisions of the site don't work and the Glitchdex has none of its cool images.

http://www.profusehost.net/forum/knowledge-base/7924-ad-code.html

"OUR AD CODE CAN ONLY BE PLACED WITHIN CONTENT(NEAR HEADER), TOP LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE MENU. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLACE OUR ADS IN YOUR FOOTER OR ALL THE WAY IN THE HEADER."

Perhaps putting them in the (unused) rightmenu?

The Caspar sites will be truly separated during the new software upgrade (currently they share files, but just change style depending on the domain).

"PichuUmbreon's Green Glitchiness" might make the ads incredibly annoying, considering it makes the ad post even greener than all the other posts.

Why can't we use AdBlock Plus exactly? It might sound stupid but I didn't really get it…or what's wrong with using it? I can't see any ads, I never realized there was any 'till I disabled it.
