Well, if this was implemented there would certainly be over 9000 Pokémon, taking into account 493*493 = 243049, yet not all Pokémon can breed. In the next games it would turn out to be an accurate representation of real life evolution in about another billion years? You would most likely see some kind of weird torchic hybrid with teeth which evovles into something deadly. 243049*243049= 59072816401 presuming every Pokémon breeds which it doesn't so a significant amount less.
