Bert, that's the best strategy I've seen here so far. However…

Your strongest should be at the BOTTOM, second-strongest above that, and so on. This seems counter-intuitive, HOWEVER this will make your stronger 'mons seem weaker, as your subconscious sees more damage up front. This allows you to prepare yourself for situations when your lead is KO'd and the rest are weaker, as you'll subconsciously want to grind to up your 'mons' strength more and they'll end up even closer together in level AND stats.

"Cancerous"? If you explain in more detail, and still have the card, I could walk you through treatment and recovery, nice and slow.

It began f****ing up everything when i was watching YouTube, then my phone even crashed when browsing thru the cart, right now it's completely dead and lying in the "thresh".
First, it didn't want to save anything on it. Then, some of my files were corrupt and the music player (the default Android 4.4.4 one) app even had a folder with Chinese that said "HI"…

Anyway back to topic, my AS team is full of level 100 shinys i got from WT :)

It's not like I'm a snooping asshole. I don't care what weird porn you have.

And the word you're looking for is "trash", not "thrash". The first is garbage. The second is "bad beating".

Yeah yeah, my English isn't perfect.
But:
1:I have stuff like my roms, saves and some private documents on there.
2:It's in the trash.

Might I ask where you're from? It'd be nice if you were Spanish, I'd like to see other latin/Spaniards in this community c:

The current Rule 34 of the Internet is a LOT weaker than it used to be. It used to state that no matter what, with 34 clicks you can go from any site to a porn site. And yes, this is still true.

Oh, and this thread has been derailed, thrown into space, and vaporized. Can we get back to it?

I've only played gens 1, 3 and 5 and since I have no interest in speedruns or competitive battling, my teams tend to ok being weak : ) Well, relatively so anyway.

In the older games, do you play SHIFT or SET, what team size do you prefer, and do you need to grind levels (up to beating the Elite Four anyway)?

I've always played on SHIFT mode! I find that switching between opponents is very good to take advantage of typing matchups and all that jazz. I prefer sticking to 6 pokémon team by the end of the game, but I am slow to acquire them, so the actual number of pokémon I have will increase as I progress. And yes, I need to grind for levels, but I find that sticking to doing all possible trainer battles is usually enough!

Can an expert play an evenly-levelled team of 6 without grinding? How about on SET?

Oh, that's quite the question… If you acquire everyone early on and make good use of Experience sharing strategies, you might not need, but that heavily depends on just how much experience your pokémon need to keep up.

About teams on SET mode… well, it certainly doesn't help the matter at all, since experience gets even most concentrated! I know it firsthand from a gameplay of the ridiculously hard (and horribly planned/executed…) Pokémon Dark Rising ROM Hack. I didn't know there were two modes at all back then and accidentally changed it to SET early on.

As a result, the entire thing was made more difficult than it was to begin to begin with! Since I couldn't waste turns to the behemoths thrown my way (really? wonder guard pokémon with no weakness???) all the experience was thrown into the first pokémon I had and grinding took most of the actual gameplay. Yeah, SET makes things worse.

I'm playing through Gold with a team of 6, so will see how that goes.

Also reloaded some save backups from Crystal (team of 3) to see what would happen. No specific level grinding in that run, but I did fight nearly all the trainers.

Before the first go at the Elite Four:

Lanturn L44 @ Magnet
Surf
Spark
Confuse Ray
Thunder Wave

Parasect L39 @ Pink Ribbon
Return
Pursuit
False Swipe
Spore

Typhlosion L45 @ Charcoal
Flame Wheel
Swift
Smokescreen
Headbutt

At the time (on SHIFT), I remember having some difficulty with most of them because I didn't really know what I was doing. Lance was a big problem back then, and I ended up abusing savestates to get past him.

Fought them on SET today, and the first four went down without much trouble, just needing a few recovery items. For Lance, it makes sense to use Lanturn (L45) for the whole battle - setting up with 3 XSpecial on Gyarados (which can't hurt it that much) it can then 2-hit all the Dragonites with Spark.

Jumping to Green:

Lanturn L53 @ Leftovers
Parasect L52 @ Leftovers
Typhlosion L52 @ Charcoal
(same attacks)

I don't recall having any issues back then. Anyway, no problems this time - won on SET with no consumable items.

And on to Red:

Back then, I didn't fight Red for quite a while afterwards (beat the Elite Four a few more times and did some dex-filling). Heading straight for Mt Silver this time. I was able to beat Red on SET with these guys, though needed to fall back to the "send out HM slaves and use Revives" strategy. The X items don't seem very useful in this case. Red has 2 Full Restores, and for some reason he uses them when a Pokemon is asleep and undamaged (while Lance and Green are smarter about it) so I can just use Spore on the first 3 turns and make him waste them.

A bit more (human) experience makes a big difference! Seems I picked a pretty good team though.

I know I'm not original here, but sclewp it !
I only play Red as of now, so… yeah. Totally not overhyped for the 7th gen.

I usually start with my solo starter, then tryhard for an hour at best to get a nicey Lv 100 Nidoking. Then it's basically RAPING TIME until I reach Fuchsia City. There I set up à 6-Pokémon 8F bootstrap with Nidoking / CoolDitto in front, and breeze through stuff using WTW, and finish the League off as a pacifist (by NoClipping through the doors :P).

So… your average 6-Pokémon 8F bootstrap team. With a Nidoking.

Well, umm, no. I will not use 8F for now, I have GARY though.

I feel the pain trying to set up that trainer-fly with the blackout method. It took me two days. I didn't even plan on getting a Nidoking, i just encountered a level 3 Pidgey, and it happened to have perfect special DV's.

Goddamn French keyboard modes for the win! (I don't think AZERTY is a good idea)
I beat the E4 kinda legit, i only skipped Bruno for some reason…
THE POWER OF GARY!!!!

Wait, who's Green?

Blue. Who remains Gary/Shigeru in my head anyway.

Hey, someone else that uses a grass-type starter! I usually pick Bulbasaur in Gen 1 simply because it tends to have better growth rates, even if its stats are lower at start. (One run I got a Bulbasaur to end up with <450 Special because the RNG happened to roll a really high growth rate.)

I'd still like to know what "rolling a growth rate" is!
