Not sure if this is even slightly related to the topic, but I don't have this "ALT-130" code. MY "Dell Inspiron 6400" doesn't have that number pad thingy which, on a normal keyboard, would be above the "Up, down, left and right arrows".

Are there little blue numbers on any of the letters?  If so, that's the number pad, which can be accessed with the Fn key.

¬¬ It's hasn't got to do with the keyboard, it's the fact  you hold down the ALT Key, and use the numpad, to put in the numbers then let out of Alt, and you have your Alt code letter.

Not if his keyboard doesn't have an altpad to use in the first place.

Because I run Ubuntu, none of these codes work, and the Ubuntu code is also malfunctioning. I suppose I'll just keep "é" on my clipboard for easy access.

I dunno if theres a standard way to do it in Linux (or even Ubuntu), but your text editor might let you do it. For instance, in Vim I can hit C-v u00E9 to show an é.

Isn't the point of this so we don't have to type és? I'm used to typing it like "Pokémon" anyway, but there's no need to start an argument over nothing.
