A long time ago, I began a glitch hack on Pokemon Ruby… I have since obandoned that one, and started one on Fire Red. I began this just a few days ago, and these are some screenshots of what I've done. (most of em are just pokemon shots) I gave 'M a different palette than MissingNo. to make them a bit more different. Besides 'M and Bad EGG, just about all of these glitches use the same palette. (Theres alot of colors in this palette o-o) "Special" MissingNO.'s have the type from the pokemon I overwrote (havent changed them yet) and "Seafood town" was a "insert Map" error on Advance Map, it was changed to "Glitch City (which is shown in the Yellow MissingNo. screenshot)

My original Idea was to use Unown for MissingNo. Replacing 24 of them with Pixel MissingNo., 3 with the ghost/fossils and one with Yellow… but it didnt work out how I planned, so I used different slots.

Note: The screens lead you to beleive that 'M and Bad EGG replaced Koffing and Weezing, but thats just a pokedex hacking error. Koffing and Weezing are number 1 and 2 in the pokedex, and the glitches were put in their place. (Starters are Koffing, Pineco and Shuppet, my favorite non-legendarys from each region. XD.)

The glitches are all in normal breeding groups, but some similar pokemon arent in the same ones. Example: Pixel MissingNo. is in the Indeterminate group, while Kabutops fossil is in mineral group, thus cannot breed, even though they are the same "species". 'M is in the inditerminate group, so it can breed with MissingNo. 'M, 3TrainerPoke (renamed 3trainpoke for limited name space) are always found as male, cannot breed with Ditto, and thus will not hatch from eggs. They CAN be hatched on a special condition that Kangaskahn is bred holding a certain "???????" item. The egg will hatch into 'M and 3TrainerPoke at random, since they are set as pre-evolutions for Kangaskahn.

3TrainerPoke and 'M are the only glitches (so far) that Evolve. I havent finished it completely yet, but Bad EGG will "hatch" (Evolve, due to lack of hacking experience) into "Glitch EGG" (just named EGG) at some point. Glitch Egg has much better stats than a Bad Egg.

Special MissingNO. have slightly greater stats than a pixel MissingNo., but the same move pool. Yellow MissingNO. has the same stats as a pixel MissingNo., but an altered moveset. 'M and MissingNO. have SLIGHTLY different stats, but the same movepool, besides one level up move and one TM. Special MissingNO. can learn any TM/HM (like they can in Red/Blue).

I edited my post so many times o-o…

I hope to finish this, with or without a completely hacked game. Its pretty fun to play through normally as it is XD. I just hate that making a move "???" type will make it really weak in battle ><.

The first town and route have thunderstorm weather, but as you move into Viridian City and Route 2, it gets to rain, and in pewter city, its just a dark area. All the towns are named after seafood/oceanic lifeforms.

just a cool thing to point out: The outside of the Subaquatic pass is a large crater thing filled with water. The water is draining out through a waterfall and it leaves a walkable stream heading all the way through Viridian city, Route 1 and pallet town into the ocean. In Route 2, I used lake tiles instead of normal puddle tiles and you can find wild pokemon. (common: Surskit. Rare: Feebas) Feebas also evolves through friendship, rather than beauty.

I screwed up my game's pokedex, and now all pokemon 1-10 are blank spaces that say #000. I need to fix that.

The game itself is generally the same as Fire Red. The routes and towns are changed around quite a bit, but I cant really script hack, so I'm stuck with what I've got. I will probobly be forced to change a few trainers, due to them having the pokemon I replaced with Glitches.

Also, Glitch pokemon with low base stats in previous games are given modified stats that are higher, due to the glitches being "legendary" in nature. As of right now, 3TrainerPoke has the highest base stat value.

Minor note: The MissingNo. forms (besides Yellow) have slightly different backpics than eachother. Ghost and kabutops MissingNo.'s backpic is larger than Aero and pixel's. This was because of a size mismatch.

Types are also changed around a bit. 3trainerpoke is a ???/Dark type (no reasoning behind that), and MissingNO./'M have ??? type instead of Bird. (The "normal" type they have was not put in untill after I took these screenshots).

Glitches with "Superglitch" as a level up move will learn a Generation 2 or 3 move instead. Due to TM changes, MissingNo. and 'M learn most of their Generation 1 TM moves through level up. ALL MissingNO. have "Pay Day, Water Gun and Sky Attack" as their starting moves. (But Yellow also knows Bind). 'M only knows Water Gun and Sky attack.

4. . shares TM moves and level up moves with Golduck, but it also learns Sheer Cold at LV 99 and has much higher base stats.

Waterfall is not an obtainable HM. I decided to replace the Waterfall HM event with a "Catch X-x" event. X-x is most likely gonna be a non-legendary but legendary status pokemon, as it is the only pokemon to learn waterfall. (It can be caught multiple times if the move is deleted.)

I'm debating myself on if this is a good idea, but I thought maybe I could have Pixel MissingNo. evolve into Aerodactyl fossil at every level, then aero fossil evolves into Ghost, Ghost into kabutops, then kabutops back into pixel. (changes form at every level, basicly)

Good good job, I've really wanted a reason to wrap up glitch version for a while now, anyway, a tip.

-When you get to the "Egg" G/S/C glitch, to emulate it's hatching into other Eggs, have it Evolve into whatever the original Pokemon was supposed to evolve into, that way the Egg can seem like its hatching.

For Dex entries, feel free to use Missingno. Master's from my thread, and also, if you need anymore, just tell him, or me and we'll make some.

Again, great hack, much better than what crap I could have spewed out.

Sure! I'm willing to do that, one catch though, You'll have to wait a month.

I'm currently typing from my mom's computer, my new CPU gets here around my Birthday, so, yeah, until then if you want me to do any actual work, don't expect it.

However I can give Glitch Info/Suggestions, Storyline Suggestions, and Dex entries.

I use YAPE to edit Dex Entries though.

Yape doesnt work for me. It says I'm missing something.

I updated the sprite for my fan-pokemon in the hack, Bleek. (I am also thinking about renaming his "Gleep")

The new version looks suprised, I know, but thats just how it turned out.

Also, Ghost and Fossil MissingNo. sprites replaced with gen 3 versions of ghost and fossil sprites (With MissingNo.'s palette)

I, too, require a copy of such hack (preferably in ROM form, since I have no clean ROMs to which to apply an IPS) when it is finished.

A hack is only a derivative work if it uses the Pok?mon name or any other copyrighted or trademarked stuff.

AFAIK Missingno. and company are not copyrighted nor trademarked by Nintendo.

But it still has copywrited material in it(the battle engighn for example) so it is still illegal.
