My family has their own definitions for nerds, geeks, and  :o dweebs.

Nerd=Computer person (i.e. software engineer, programmer, computer gamer.)

Geek=Misunderstood smart person, often obsessed or fascinated by subjects like pi (or pie, or both), latin, US history, greek mythology, weapons (yes, it IS possible to have a weapons geek), and/or science.

Dweeb=Annoying person who wants to be a geek but does not have the mental faculties or personality to become one. Rumored to be spawned periodically from sulfur vents.

Unlike my nerdy family, I fall into the geek category. Nos Geekes sumus callidiores quam vos et nos res utiles facimus.

Someone in my math class memorized I think 60 digits of pi.
Anyway, I'm a geek.

I actually think the whole definition of nerds and geeks is different to everyone.

Speaking of nerds does anyone remember the show from the mid 90s called Freakazoid? If you do then you'll remember this episode. Its also on the quite recent DVD release of Freakazoid Season 1

Give it up for, the Nerdator:

Nerds? Geeks? Oh finally a thread that I can actually discuss about what I like.

3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419796939937, that's as much of Pi that I know.
Let us see now, I love World of Warcraft, I enjoy surfing the internet as much as possible, I am near obsessed with staying inside my house for days on end, I like finding deviantArt pictures of characters that I like in Warcraft, and I love surfing YouTube for various assortments of crappy videos to epic videos… And et cetera…
So… What category would I fall into?

Probably nerd.

I used to know 126 digits of pi…  I forgot most.  3.14159265358979323846264338324950288419716939957301 is all I can remember now…

I think I could fit into both categories. What does that make me?

I'd like to note that I am not the oracle of all nerd vs. geek knowledge. However, by my terms:

Nerd=Computer person (i.e. software engineer, programmer, computer gamer.)

Geek=Misunderstood smart person, often obsessed or fascinated by subjects like pi (or pie, or both), latin, US history, greek mythology, weapons (yes, it IS possible to have a weapons geek), and/or science.

You're more nerd than geek.

Agreed.

I certainly wouldn't remember Freakazoid, but since that is a common term in the household I assume that my parents would. So blah. Oh yeah; a recent Doctor Who episode ("The Fires of Pompeii") uses the same family names as the Cambridge Latin book, which is hilarious if you've gone through a semester reading about Grumio being delectat'ed and Quintus scribit'ing scurrilous verses upon the walls.

That description is hella funny.

The one and the same. The first few stories translate literally to: "Cerberus is the dog. Cerberus is in the street. Caecilius is in the garden. Caecilius is sitting in the garden." But after a while you can say things like, "The sign painter wrote for the brothers in vain, because the signs were being erased." I still don't really care about the little family (consisting of Metella, Caecilus, Quintus, Clemens, Grumio, Melissa, and Cerberus), and I probably pay the most attention in class. Funny definition.

I suppose I am pretty nerdy/geeky. I spend most of my time playing video games and watching movies. I find conversations about random things entertaining, and I like Star wars, Star trek, and Back to the future movies. I also like the number googol-plex, and occasionally find excuse to mention the speed of a googol-plex gigaparsecs per yoctosecond for random things.

Googolplex is meh, I prefer Googoldecaplex (10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^100)
