So, we got some new Megas!

Megamotherfuckin' Camerupt.

Mega Sharpedo.

Mega Gallade.

Primal Groudon and Kyogre have new abilities called Lands of Ending and Sea of Beginnings, respectively. They activate Strong Sunlight and Strong Rain, respectively.

Mega Sharpedo has Strong Jaw and Camerupt has Sheer Force. No word at the moment what Mega Gallade's ability is.

Mega Evolutions are stupid.

Mega Evolutions are stupid.

I share some of that sentiment. I enjoyed the concept of Mega-Evolutions when they were less common. Now, since there seem to be so many Mega-Evolutions, their novelty has worn off for me, and now I just see it as a way to make a Pokemon unnecessarily powerful (Garchomp, Metagross), or see it as a way for Game Freak to quickly develop a new "evolution" without giving the base Pokemon a much needed real evolution (Audino).

Mega Ray Barone Rayquaza confirmed!

Video

Update.

Steals Slifer's jaw, Meganium's antennae, and gets a cape. Its signature move is fucking crazy awesome.

Mega Beedrill and Mega Pidgeot confirmed!

Additionally, Mega Lati@s can apparently be used to fly around the entire region by like, actually flying. Not warping or anything. You'll get to control the flight path of the Latis. Also, apparently they can open portals to obtain legendaries? Not just any legendaries, but ALL (obtainable, non-event) legendaries?

So, if this is true, all normally-obtainable legendaries are obtainable in ORAS. Hype is f**king real.

So the special demo just happened. I still don't know if this goes to everyone that gets promotional emails from Nintendo, or if I am the chosen one. Anyway, it's pretty short and straightforward like the XY demo was, but there's a few things that might not otherwise have been known yet:

- Battle themes are FUKKEN AWESOME FUCK YEAH
- Mega Glalie's ability is Refridgerate. Unless its moveset gets upgraded as well, I don't see it making too much use of this, since Return and Explosion are the only moves it has that are Normal type and do something. Don't know the base stats, though by comparing it to the fully evolved starters which end up in your party, its Speed is between 80 and 120, and its attacking stats are (from what I remember because I'm too lazy to go back in and check) above 120. I'm an idiot and didn't see that the internet discovered it has 80/120/80/120/80/100.
- The bottom screen displays a 'BuzzNav', which has a news reporter on it. It's like the TVs from the old games except it's with you all the time, and it's an actual TV. This is singlehandedly the best news ever.
- May's personality is now that of some sort of moe anime character.
- You can transfer the Glalie you get in the demo into the full game. Obviously only once it's released, smarty pants.
- Tabitha is a dude apparently, and always has been. I don't get it why they'd name him that (or Homura in the Japanese version), but okay.

After I completed the demo the second time, it said I can go back and there's more people to talk to in Mossdeep. I haven't done that yet, maybe some more interesting things will happen if I do.

Also your dude's name is Orlando, but I don't know if that's just what the demo decides to call you or if it's what the male player character's name is going to be.

Maybe Tabitha was originally going to be female? He's a dude in the anime, too. Besides, there are guys named Leslie and Rei.

Screw those, we have a pair of text dumps!

Too bad they only dumped the English text: and I wonder if the text is stored in the game itself as UTF-8, or if that's how their text dumper saved it out as?

EDIT: Interesting stuff found in that text dump:

Play Pokémon ΩR & αS Special Demo in
Play Pokémon Omega Ruby in
English
Spanish
French
German
Italian
Japanese
Korean

At least we know what version was the demo based on…

And with a list of Pokémon names sorted by dex number, Egg is listed before Bulbasaur. Interesting insomuch I see no mention of "Bad Egg" anywhere in that text dump…

EDIT2: *search search*

So, Zowayix, I don't think that "Orlando" will be the male player's name will be, just what the demo decides to call you.

Not to mention "Orlando" is hardcoded in a bunch of other places in the text dump.

Also, since when did Game Freak become wasteful as fuck? There's separate lines in the text dump, for (your|wild|enemy) Pokémon using every move in the game. As well as similar repeated lines for other battle-related messages. Ya know, there's a thing called snprintf, why not use it? Just because you have 1024 times the ROM space you had 20 years ago…

Japanese text. Something to do with "judging a Pokémon's ability". I seem to remember an NPC in X/Y that does that.

With the release of the game in some parts of the world, I decided to change the thread title.
Also, do we have to wait until the 28th (for the rest of the world to get it) to discuss the newer spoilers or would we be able to right now?

Also, do we have to wait until the 28th (for the rest of the world to get it) to discuss the newer spoilers or would we be able to right now?

Some parts of the world still have to wait? Damn, I thought they learned from their experiences with X and Y that there is no reason to not just release everything everywhere at the same time.
I would still put spoilers in small text (in lieu of a spoiler tag) regardless of where it's been released yet. Anyway, I shall begone to drunkenly stumble down to the buy things place and get myself the two of them.
