DecDex-Decamark variation list (Melchior X) - Page 6

The species name seems to crash the game, Newo.  If there is a Species name modifier gameshark code or VBA Memory Viewer hack, we might be able to get to view their stats and types. I can get the first few letters of the name and use that as the glitchdex name. (the name given when you select a non-glitch pokemon then hit down on the stats screen) Take 035B for example, it makes the game crash when the name is viewed. If the species name was completely changed to a blank name temporarly, we might be able to get it's stats.

A species name modifier would edit the ROM, editing the ROM this far on may have bad effects on the game.
Is there any point having Pokemon that have potentially leathal names, especially if we have to hack the game? You can't do that on a cartridge.

You can temporrly change a pokemon's species name.  People have on D/P and got them into the GTS (see the TRsRockin thread) and people have seen them without a hacked ROM on the GTS.  Changeing the species name can effect the party, or just that one pokemon.  If there is a nickname modifier, there has to be a Species name modifier GS code. (Although it would be more complex.)

Well… let's try to see if we can GameShark a species name mod before we say we're done since most hacks can't be done with gameshark. If we can't, then we are done until there is a way to change a species name without ROM hacking or if we really want to complete the rest of the hexes.

RSE uses the ROM sightly differently than DP.
For example a Pokemon cannot have Stats beyond the base limit or RSE but can on DP. Pokemon can also have any ability on DP but have to have the ones written in the ROM for RSE

Well, let's do the hexes that won't crash the game.  I have nothing better to do after my school work is done.  There's hex F500s and F600s that have Trainer names on the nickname? screen, but they crash on the stats screen though. I have found more hexes (later ones) that do have messed up names but don't freeze the game and ones with short names like 1100.  We can continue if you want Newo, or we can just quit temporarly until these decamarks are Gllitchdex2'd.

We will continue, seeing that they work later on. The question is, do we do the ones with Nicknames that crash or not, or do we just skip them.

I only checked one or two since I was just looking for working hexes. Some in that category could work, but the chance of them working is like the chance of these working.  I'd say we'll do that hex set.  Not all of them are going to crash.

I cannot post some characters that are in this name like the E with the two dots over it. If someone with better font can, I'd like if they'd give me the text for the nicknames. I had these decamarks done last night so I posted them today since I had no school. ;D

Those symbols aren't just used in spanish you do know. To stop arguement I will change it to Accented Letters

It looks like the attack names are over. Instead of glitchblocks like in RBYGGSC, it looks like "other language" letters take the place of that, which there is no reason they should be there (none of those are used in english :o). And by the way I had school off today too! ;D
EDIT: Huh, this still isn't stickied?! It really should be, it's part of project Melchior! :o

Why do most of the Decamarks have Thunderpunch?

Idea: Do what I did for Glitchdex 2 and use gifs of the actual name instead of "accented symbols". It'll have to be done anyway, so why not now?

Instead of accented symbols you could have the picture and the actual name in the picture.
Then under Actual Name you could put: "See picture"

Yeah, you should, because it is too hard to rip it transparent.
