UPLIFT SPICE -

Man, it's unreal how many times I listened to this during the OSWE exam. UPLIFT SPICE is just hella rad in general.

The pre-chorus and chorus parts (starting around 0:40 and 0:55 respectively) are just so freaking good though.

Alek Száhala - Man Eaten

One of those tunes that just keeps coming back year after year. A rare example of a high BPM freeform track going for 9 minutes and not wasting a second of it with a lengthy ambient breakdown or irritating levels of repetition, with "just enough simplicity" (a very hard balance to strike) and harsh filtering over one-of-a-kind synths.

That said, I still think it would benefit from some cuts even if I'm not sure how…along with my mixed feelings on the Száhala style (the quiet kicks sticking out like an extracted liver in particular), it's not one of my favorites, but it still gets me by now and then and remains a must-listen in the genre. On my "to remix someday" list.

I'm becoming a critic, aren't I…
