don't forget -GOOGLE! it's a real number!

Google sucks. I never use it. Go ahead and bash me if you want.

Then what do you use?

Yahoo, have you ever heard of it, or, did you think Google was THE ONLY acceptable search engine/directory?

Could you define what Ablative and those others mean, Guy? I suspect I know what a few of them mean, but others just confuse me.

Noni? Nekomata? Baka!

Well that was gonna be later, but here's just a quick runthrough:
Nominative - subject, used with verb to be
Genitive - posession
Dative - used with verbs showing, giving, telling, offering
Accusative - direct object of verbs, used with some prepositions
Ablative - tons of stuff
I'll get more stuff for the "course" up in a minute :P.

OK
Lesson 1 cont.

The base of any Latin noun can be found by taking off the ending of the genitive singular form. This rule works for all Latin nouns, not just ones from the first declension. The endings are then added to this base. Here is an example: agricol(ae). In other declensions, the other forms may be irregular.

Nominative Case
The Nominative case is used for a subject of a verb. Also it is for a predicate nominatives, with the verb to be.
Example: Agricola est poeta. (The farmer is a poet.)

And now some words:
Nom sg., Gen sg., Gender, Meaning
agricola, agricolae, m., farmer
aqua, aquae, f., water
femina, feminae, f., woman
fortuna, fortunae, f., fortune, chance
Gallia, Galliae, f., Gaul (now known as France)
insula, insulae, f., island
Italia, Italiae, f., Italy
lingua, linguae, f., tongue, language
littera, litterae, f., letter (of alphabet)
-(in pl.) litterae, litterarum, letter, epistle, letters
memoria, memoriae, f., memory
natura, naturae, f., nature
poeta, poetae, m., poet
provincia, provinciae, f., province
puella, puellae, f., girl
silva, silvae, f., forest
vita, vitae, f., life

est, is, he is, she is, it is, there is

This is probably a bit hard to follow. I'll try and organize both these posts a little better.
